Northwestern State University provides instruments and uniforms as well as paying for all transportation and meal expenses when the "Spirit of Northwestern" travels. Several audition dates are scheduled during each spring. You may audition during one of the scheduled days, or may arrange an individual audition.


Color Guard Auditions
Individuals who wish to participate as members of the Demon Colorguard should attend one of the audition dates listed below. Tryouts will consist of a review of fundamentals and demonstration of a routine that is taught during the tryout. Participants should dress comfortably and bring their own silk and flagpole. If for some reason you are unable to attend the audition date listed below, please click the link to request an alternative audition date.

 Schedule for both days is as follows:

    Registration:  8:30 A. M.
    Clinic:  9:00am - 12:00 P. M.
    Audition:  1:00pm - 4:00P. M.


Drumline Auditions
Music for the new marching season will be issued and auditions for specific placement on the Demon Drumline will be held. Individuals who wish to participate as members of the Demon Drumline are strongly recommended to attend both audition dates (TBA). Horn Line Auditions
Auditions for horn line members are held on an individual basis throughout the school year and, when necessary, into the summer prior to the opening of the new academic year. Students should prepare a short etude or solo of their choice for the audition and may arrange an audition by calling 318-357-4522 or by clicking on the link below. 

Performance scholarships, as well as out-of-state fee waivers, are available to all students who qualify.


Scholarships
Scholarships are available to all students who participate in the "Spirit of Northwestern." Band scholarships can range from $450 to $1250 per semester, depending upon high school achievement and audition results. Working with the Financial Aid office and the Office of Admissions, students may be eligible for additional help that would cover the majority of their college expenses. Out-of-state fee waivers are also available to students who maintain a 2.5 GPA.
